PRP Q & A
What is PRP?
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a cutting-edge treatment that’s free from chemicals and other irritants. It’s highly effective for regenerating new cell growth.
With PRP, the medical team at Thrive Med Spa & Wellness harnesses the power of platelets, rich in growth factors, from your own blood to help you achieve anti-aging effects without surgery, pain, or downtime.
What is PRP used for?
The practitioners at Thrive Med Spa & Wellness use PRP for facial rejuvenation, hair restoration, and O-Shots® to enhance sexual function. It helps:
- Increase hair growth
- Reduce fine lines and wrinkles
- Improve your complexion
- Diminish acne scars
- Plump sagging skin
- Reduce deep facial creases
- Restore a youthful appearance
- Improve sexual sensation and function
- Decrease urinary incontinence
- Reduce symptoms of vaginal atrophy including loss of sensation, urinary incontinence, and vaginal dryness among others.
PRP encourages new cell growth to replace older, damaged cells. Platelets in PRP enhance your body’s natural healing abilities.
What should I expect during PRP treatment?
Before PRP treatment, your provider reviews your medical history and symptoms to let you know if PRP injections are right for you. If you’re a good candidate for the procedure, your practitioner takes a sample of your blood and spins it in a centrifuge to isolate the PRP.
We then inject the platelet-rich plasma at strategic points just beneath your skin for facial rejuvenation.
If you desire hair restoration, your provider injects PRP into several areas of your scalp. To achieve vaginal rejuvenation, orgasm enhancement, or improvements in urinary incontinence with the O-shot, your doctor injects PRP into the vaginal area.
Your doctor numbs the area before your PRP injections to make the procedure comfortable. We let you know how often to schedule PRP injections to achieve optimal results, which last about 18 months or longer.
If you receive PRP as part of facial rejuvenation, your practitioner might recommend additional aesthetic treatments, such as microneedling or dermal fillers, to enhance your results.
What happens after the procedure?
There’s virtually no downtime after PRP treatment, so you can resume regular daily activities within 12-24 hours. If you receive the O-shot, your provider might ask you to abstain from sexual activity for the remainder of the day.
Don’t let thinning hair, urinary incontinence, and other signs and symptoms of aging hinder your quality of life or make you self-conscious. Call Thrive Med Spa & Wellnessto learn more about PRP or schedule an appointment online today.
